REGISTRATION OF KINDERGARTEN, NEW STUDENTS AND HOMELESS STUDENTS

Quick Links

Dear Parents & Guardians:

We are in the process of planning our kindergarten registration for the Pelham Class of 2031! Your child is eligible to attend kindergarten next year if he or she will be five years old on or before December 31, 2018.

If you are planning to register your child to attend Pelham schools for the 2018-2019 academic year, we would like to invite you to meet with the Central Office registration clerk and one of our school nurses to submit your completed registration forms and provide the necessary information needed to successfully register your child. It is not necessary for you to bring your child with you to registration. Please be advised that registration forms received by mail will not be accepted.

It is essential that all parents/guardians register their children IN PERSON, present the completed registration application forms and bring ORIGINAL documents to registration. Please note that some forms must be notarized. In order to avoid delays in your child’s registration, please be sure to have the necessary documents notarized prior to your registration date.

On our district website, www.pelhamschools.org, you will find detailed information and the forms that you will need to complete your child’s registration. Click on PARENTS AND COMMUNITY, KINDERGARTEN AND NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION, and follow the link to REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION AND FORMS. Hard copies of all of our forms can be obtained from the District Office as well.

Please be sure to see appropriate health forms that must be completed. In accordance with NY State Law, children entering the public schools must be immunized against rubella (German measles), DPT, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, varicella and hepatitis.

Registration will take place according to the school your child will be attending in the fall, at Alumni Hall, located on the ground floor of the Pelham Memorial High School building. We respectfully request that the following schedule be observed. Any parent/guardian who cannot be present at their designated time and on the designated day may make an appointment with Kim McGreal to register their child at 914.738.3434 ext. 1211. Unless prior arrangements are made, exceptions will not be made to the schedule outlined below.

Please do not park in any numbered spots dedicated to the professional staff in our parking lots or in reserved permit parking spaces on the street. Please observe street regulations as vehicles will be ticketed by our villages if parked illegally.

May Orientation/Fall Screening:

Our instructional staff will be available to discuss the kindergarten program in May. In addition, you and your child will also be invited, by appointment, to visit the kindergarten program and to meet with the kindergarten team at your home school. The kindergarten teachers will spend some time with your child, observing his/her interaction and completing a preliminary screening. A more in depth screening by the speech/language teacher, resource room teacher and kindergarten teachers will be done in September when youngsters are more familiar with the school.

On behalf of the Pelham Union Free School District, please accept our heartiest welcome to the Pelham Schools. We are very proud of our academic program, and look forward to our partnership regarding the children that we will soon share. If you have any questions, please call 914-738-3434 ext. 1211. I wish you and your child every success in the years ahead.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Steven M. Garcia, Ed. D.
