ADMINISTERING PRESCRIPTION AND OVER THE COUNTER AND TOPICAL MEDICATIONS

In order for a school nurse to administer medication(s),  NYS law requires that each student have a patient-specific order from a licensed prescriber and written parent/guardian permission for any prescription or over the counter medication, including topicals (i.e. ointment, Calamine lotion, Benadryl, skin lotions, Vaseline, etc...).   All medications (prescription and over the counter) must adhere to these guidelines and must be brought in by a parent in the original container.

Additional permission is required for those students who request permission to carry their own medication on campus or keep this medication in a P.E. Locker.  Please contact your school nurse directly.
